The Washington County Parks Division will host a naturalist from Dodge Nature Center at the Trailhead Shelter of Lake Elmo Park Reserve from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16. The program is free with a Washington County Parks vehicle permit. If you don’t already have a permit, they may be purchased at the park entrance.
The presentation, “Wilderness Skills” will introduce fire-building and survival shelter construction. Attendees will learn what it takes to survive in the wild, how the environment has an impact on humans in a survival situation and how to build a shelter and a one-match fire.
The program is designed for families with children ages 5 and older. An adult must accompany children.
Questions may be directed to the Reserve at (651) 430-8370. Information is also available at www.co.washington.mn.us/parks.
