Parks and Rec hosts lacrosse activitiesOpen field time available, leagues now forming
City of Woodbury Parks and Recreation Department youth lacrosse summer leagues are now forming and open youth lacrosse is now available.
– Registration is open until Feb. 15 or until teams are full for the “Girls and Boys Developmental Lacrosse Leagues” that run from the end of May through July. Teams include girls: grades 4 – 6 or 7 – 8; and boys: grades 3 – 4, 5 – 6, or 7 – 8. Register for the grade your child is currently in. The cost is $140 per player.
Some travel is required and transportation is the parent’s responsibility.
All participants must have a current U.S. Lacrosse member ID at time of registration. These are available at www.uslacrosse.org and cost $25 per year.
Developmental leagues have an average of three events per week. Proper protective equipment is required.
Practice and game schedule information will be available the end of May. If needed, player evaluations will take place in mid-May.
Volunteer boys and girls coaches are needed for the leagues. Contact Michelle Okada at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in coaching or assisting.
– “Open Youth Lacrosse” for youth ages 9 to 14, is held at the Bielenberg Sports Center Field House from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 13 to March 17. The cost is $2 per visit, payable at the door.
The field house is open for boy and girl youth players in the community to play a pick-up game or just practice shooting. Absolutely no checking is allowed.
