Raptors have a rough two days

East Ridge wrestlers still seeking program's first victory.

It was a tough two-day stretch for the Raptors as the youthful first-year wrestling team went 0-7 between the Robbinsdale Armstrong Quadrangular on Thursday, Jan. 7 and its Buffalo Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 9.

At the Armstrong quad, East Ridge fell 57-15 to host Armstrong, 69-9 to Chisago Lakes and 66-10 to Northfield. At the Buffalo tourney, East Ridge fell 66-12 to Alexandria, 53-27 to Buffalo, 63-0 to Foley and 70-4 to Big Lake.

At Robbinsdale-Armstrong Reid Lyden won his two matches at 103 pounds — over Armstrong’s Tim Yang with a pin and over 9-0 over Northfield’s Kody Reilly — as did junior Nick Bachmann at 160 pounds, with an 8-5 decision against Chisago Lakes and a pin against Northfield. Jon Balagot went 2-1 at the quad, wining with pins against Armstrong and Chisago Lakes. Also, against Armstrong, sophomore John Chatteron won 3-2 at 130 pounds.

At the Buffalo Tournament, Lyden went 2-0, Balagot went 2-1 and Bachman went 1-1. In addition, East Ridge sophomore 215 pound wrestler Philip Gelgren won with a pin against Buffalo, while Chatterton and sophomore Sean Kallevig won by forfeit.
