Woodbury breaks even with win at Mounds View
Royals boys hockey team back at .500 after 2-1 victory in Shoreview.
The Woodbury boys hockey team is back at .500 after the Royals defeated Mounds View, 2-1, at the Shoreview Ice Arena to improve to 6-6-1 overall.
After falling behind, 1-0, in the first period, Woodbury rallied with a pair of second-period goals from forward Max Gaede and defender Walker Hyland at 6:19 and 8:29 of the middle frame, respectively, to secure the victory after a scoreless third period.
Royals goaltender Mike Ness made 19 saves to earn the win that kept his team in the thick of the Suburban East Conference race with a 4-1-1 league compilation.
Woodbury, currently third in the conference standings behind Cretin-Derham Hall and White Bear Lake, hosts sixth-place Roseville on Saturday night at the Bielenberg Sports Center. Varsity puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
