The School District 833 South Washington Senior Center will host “Crock Pot Cooking: Slow Cooking Savvy for Seniors” from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the center in the School District 833 Program Center, 8400 East Point Douglas Road South, Cottage Grove. The cost is $3.
The class will offer tips for using the slow cooker year round, including how to prepare meats, entrées, side dishes and desserts, and how to make portion–sized meals and freeze for later use.
The instructor will offer the “What A CROCK!” cookbook featuring 150 recipes adapted for crockery cooking, for $10.
No actual cooking is done in class, however a sample-sized cobbler prepared in a slow cooker will be served. The registration deadline is Friday, Jan. 15.
