Tai Chi and Qigong class for adults meets Tuesdays
The Parks and Recreation Department of the city of Woodbury is offering Qigong (chee gung) and Tai Chi instruction for adults from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Jan. 5 to Feb. 16 in Valley Creek Room B at Central Park, 8595 Central Park Place. The cost is $78.
Instructor Lisa Schlingerman will introduce participants to Tai Chi, “a continuous flow of graceful movements creating a slow meditative dance,” and Qigong which “uses postures and simple movements that are repeated and do not flow from one to the other.”
The philosophy of Tai Chi and Qigong is that movement directs the flow of energy or “chi” and helps improve the health of mind and body and spirit.
Exercises are considered safe for all ages and most physical conditions and can be accomplished standing or sitting.
