The East Ridge wrestling team is still looking for its first win of the season as a team after the Raptors took on three non-conference opponents on Thursday, Dec. 17 in the South St. Paul Quadrangular.
The Raptors fell 69-12 to South St. Paul, 54-23 to Farmington and 52-30 to St. Paul Harding in the match.
However, a number of individuals earned wins in the Raptor’s three matches on the night.
Against South St. Paul, East Ridge eighth-grade 103-pounder Reid Lyden and sophomore 145-pounder Jon Balagot each won with pins. Against Farmington, Lyden won by technical fall, seventh-grader Cory Kiger won by forfeit at 112 pounds and junior Nick Bachmann won with a pin at 160 pounds.
In the loss to Harding, Lyden, sophomore 140-pounder John Chatterton, sophomore 215-pounder Philip Gelgren and sophomore heavyweight Sean Kallevig won by way of a forfeit, while Bachmann pinned his opponent at 160 pounds.
East Ridge is back in the Suburban East Conference on Tuesday, Dec. 22, with a triangular match against SEC opponent Stillwater and non-conference foe Tartan.
Next, the Raptors travel to St. Paul to hit the mat against St. Paul Highland Park on Wednesday, Dec. 30 in a non-conference quadrangular meet.
