Royal Oaks seeks a sign of neighborhood pride

Royal Oaks residents are asking neighbors to help fund construction of a stone entrance monument. They say it will help to give the decades-old development a renewed identity.

One of Woodbury’s oldest neighborhoods wants a little piece of the prestige enjoyed by new homeowner associations – without the regulations.

A group of Royal Oaks residents is asking neighbors to help fund construction of a stone entrance monument.

A sign at the neighborhood’s main access point – the intersection of Valley Creek Road and Queens Drive – could instill a sense of pride in local residents, said Tom Halfpenny, president of the Royal Oaks Homeowner Association.

“The main idea was to keep a sense of community up so that people would feel like they’re part of something," Halfpenny said.
