The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide in Lakeland Shores after a sheriff’s deputy discovered a body inside an abandoned vehicle Tuesday, Nov. 10.

At 4:40 a.m. a citizen flagged down a sheriff’s deputy on patrol in the Lower St. Croix Valley area to report a suspicious vehicle.

The deputy responded to the scene at the 200 block of Quinnell Avenue and found a deceased Hispanic male in his mid to late 30’s inside of a 1997 Dodge Ram extended cab with a topper, a press release stated.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner determined the death is homicide.

The name of the deceased is being held pending notification of next-of-kin.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, along with other public safety partners of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, is assisting in the investigation.

The homicide is not believed to be a random act of violence, Washington County Sheriff Bill Hutton said. The sheriff’s office has not received information identifying the victim as part of the lower St. Croix Valley community, he said.

Anyone having information relevant to the investigation is asked to call the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 651-439-9381. Or, a caller can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers of Minnesota at 1-800-222-TIPS. Information resulting in an arrest could be worth up to $1,000.
