Mass H1N1 influenza vaccinations for area residents could start within a few weeks, a Washington County public health official said today.
While the county and area healthcare providers await large supplies of the H1N1 vaccine, they are moving forward with plans for mass vaccination clinics, specifically for children, Public Health Director Lowell Johnson said today.
The vaccine supply has been limited so far, he said, but it is believed the supply will start to loosen up.
Public health officials are working with school districts in the county to identify potential vaccination sites. School buildings likely would be used. No date or times have been set, Johnson said.
“I think that by the end of November we’re going to see some significant response,” he told county commissioners.
