Commissioners keep salaries flat
There will be no commissioner pay increases for 2010, the Washington County Board decided.By: Scott Wente, Woodbury Bulletin
There will be no Washington County Board pay increases for 2010, commissioners decided this morning.
The board voted 4-0 to keep next year’s commissioner salaries at the 2009 level, $52,713. Commissioner Dennis Hegberg was absent.
Commissioners Lisa Weik of Woodbury and Myra Peterson of Cottage Grove recently said salaries should remain the same next year because of the difficult budget situation facing Washington County.
Last year three of five commissioners voted to increase their pay 3.5 percent, similar to staff wage increases. Peterson supported that move; Weik did not vote because she was new to the board.
The board this morning also voted to freeze county Administrator Jim Schug’s salary for next year at $150,065. Salaries for top staff in the county attorney’s office and the sheriff’s department also will remain the same in 2010, commissioners decided.
