Wente comes to the Bulletin after working for several years as a reporter with Forum Communic-ations Co. newspapers. The Bulletin is part of the RiverTown Newspaper Group, a division of Forum Communications.
He spent three years at the Red Wing Republican Eagle, reporting on education and public safety. He then moved to the company’s Minnesota Capitol Bureau in St. Paul, where he covered five legislative sessions and state political and government news. He also has worked at newspapers in Eau Claire, Wis., and River Falls.
Wente said his experience has prepared him well for his primary reporting assignments at the Bulletin: covering the city of Woodbury and Washington County government.
Wente fills a position left open when Hank Long was promoted from staff writer to managing editor.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Wente majored in print journalism and minored in biology.
Wente, 30, lives in Maplewood with his wife, Anni, and 5-month-old daughter.
