A walk-off win versus Mahtomedi was just the ticket for the Woodbury Legion Blue baseball team as the hosts polished off the Zephyrs 4-3 on Andrew Herbert’s game-winning RBI after the Royals trailed 3-2 entering the bottom of the seventh.

Starting pitcher Rich Klein went the distance for the complete game victory as Herbert led Woodbury with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate with one run scored to go with the decisive tally he drove in.

Trailing by a run its their final turn at bat, Woodbury commenced the rally with a one out single by Jonathan Gehrt. Following the second out, Blue loaded the bases as Peter Young and Spencer Gurrola both reached safely as Mike Harman strode to the plate.

The infielder deposited a single to right to plate Gehrt and knot the score before Herbert hustled out an infield single to decide matters.

Gehrt was 2-for-3 in the contest, with Nick Ender and Brendan O’Connor each hitting a double and accounting for a tally with an RBI and a run scored, respectively.

With the thrilling triumph, Blue improved to 11-8 on the season as they prepare to travel to Oakdale on Thursday, July 9.
