The city of Woodbury fielded a number of contributors to the winning Metro team in the 2009 Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game.

Woodbury High School head coach Beau LaBore, was the coordinator for a defense that yielded just two scores, the Metro defeated the Outstate team, 54-13 at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud on June 27.

"The players were knowledgeable and just plain good,” LaBore said. However, they were coachable as well which made the experience even more rewarding."

Royals linebacker Mike Willett led the Metro team with five tackles, while WHS wide receiver Cooper Wahlo hauled in two passes for 18 total yards for the Metro.

Another Woodbury resident, Hill-Murray’s Lucas Martynec, helped anchor the offensive line as the Metro steamrolled to eight total scores in the rout.
