A neighborhood meeting the city scheduled to inform residents on a developer's plans to build a Super Target in east Woodbury was canceled Wednesday evening.
The Super Target, which developers indicated they will build in the next year, is planned to be located in the Commerce Hill development, north of Tamarack Road, south of Commerce Drive and west of Woodbury Drive.
City planning officials said Thursday that the meeting was canceled after the city learned that Target Corp. officials and the Commerce Hill developer are still discussing issues over the development.
The city council voted to approve the development and site plan for the Commerce Hill development last fall, after it originally denied approval of development in June of 2008.
The council’s denial of the nearly 40-acre retail/office project came after the developers and city staff could not resolve outstanding issues involving gaining proper assurances that Woodbury Developers LLC would agree to pay improvements for storm water and traffic around the site. Those issues were resolved over the summer and the council reconsidered and then approved the development in October 2008.
Woodbury planning director Dwight Picha told council members at the Wednesday, June 24 council meeting that the developer, Woodbury Developers LLC, appears ready to move forward with plans to construct the Super Target some time in the next year.
