The city of Woodbury will hold a neighborhood meeting Wednesday, July 1 on a plans for a new Super Target that developers are planning to construct in the Commerce Hill development some time in the next year.

The meeting will be held at Woodbury City Hall and will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Target is planned to be located in the Commerce Hill development, which north of Tamarack Road, south of Commerce Drive and west of Woodbury Drive.

The city council voted to approve the development and site plan for the Commerce Hill development last fall, after it originally denied approval of development in June of 2008.

The council’s denial of the nearly 40-acre retail/office project came after the developers and city staff could not resolve outstanding issues involving gaining proper assurances that Woodbury Developers LLC would agree to pay improvements for storm water and traffic around the site. Those issues were resolved over the summer and the council reconsidered and then approved the development in October 2008.

Woodbury planning director told council members at the Wednesday, June 24 council meeting that the developer, Woodbury Developers LLC, appear ready to move forward with plans to construct the Super Target some time in the next year.

“It appears at this point that they are ready to go on the project and have made some minor modifications to the Target store,” Picha told council members. “We felt, from a courtesy perspective, we should hold a neighborhood meeting to let them know what is going on.”
