Families of deployed troops will receive free annual vehicle permit for county parks

Spouses of deployed military personnel are invited to receive a free annual vehicle pass that will allow them and their families to use Washington County parks for free between July 1, 2009, and June 30, 2010.

Washington County is the first county in the state to offer this form of support to families of deployed military service personnel.

The vehicle permit is valid for 12 months from the time of issue and may be obtained at county park contact stations, by showing proper identification of a spouse being currently deployed.

The Washington County Board of Commissioners gave its authorization to provide such permits at its meeting June 16.
