The Washington County Board of Commissioners invites the public to experience the great outdoors by attending “Explore Your Parks Day” Saturday, June 6.
On Explore Your Parks Day, no vehicle permits are required to enter any Washington County Park.
There will also be free public events at Lake Elmo Park Reserve, St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park, and Big Marine Park Reserve.
To kick off the day, visit Lake Elmo Park Reserve and join the lifeguards for a 5K/1K fun run/walk with registration starting 10:30 a.m.
After the run, there will be free activities including fishing, orienteering, archery, kite flying, and geocaching.
There will also be several exhibits at the event including a DNR live-fish aquarium, Leadie Eddie lead screenings, American Red Cross blood mobile, YMCA obstacle course, and displays about Washington County services.
Wrap up the event around 2 p.m. with Will Hale and the Tadpole Parade as they bring live music to the park.
Other activities will take place at St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park and Big Marine Park Reserve. At St. Croix Bluffs, go on a walk with the camp host at 12:15 p.m. followed by a presentation about camping gadgets.
The activities at Big Marine Park Reserve start at 1 p.m. and include a nature walk with other nature activities following.
