Swinborne and Beckman

Jeffrey and Vonnie Swinborne of Woodbury announce the engagement of their daughter Valene Swinborne to Benjamin Beckman, son of Steve and LaRae Beckman of New Brighton. A July 2009 wedding is planned at The Refuge Golf Club, Oak Grove, Minn. The Rev. Andrew Berreth, pastor at Faith Alliance Church, St. Paul, will preside.

Valene, a Woodbury resident, graduated from Woodbury High School in 2001, and from Bethel University in 2005 with a B.A in Spanish education and in 2008 with an M.A. in education. She is employed as a Spanish teacher at Lakeville North High School.

Benjamin, a resident of Fridley, is a 2001 graduate of Irondale High School and graduated from Bethel University in 2005 with a B.A. in physical education. He is a physical education teacher at Global Academy, Columbia Heights.
