The nonprofit organization Bridging, Inc. and 11 partner organizations across the greater Twin Cities Metro are collecting furniture and household items to benefit area families in need on Saturday, April 25 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Community Action Partnership of Ramsey & Washington Counties will have a donation site at Allina Medical Center, 8675 Valley Creek Road, Woodbury.
Partner organization donation sites include HealthEast St. John’s Hospital, 1575 Beam Avenue, Maplewood, and Target, 7900 32nd Street N., Oakdale.
“It’s time to do a little spring cleaning, and this is a meaningful way to do it,” said Ron Osterbauer, executive director of Bridging. “Set aside those household items and furniture that you’ve wanted to move out and bring them to the location closest to you on Saturday, April 25.”
Bridging is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing the economically disadvantaged with a one-time gift of quality furniture and household items to help stabilize and improve their lives while effectively using community resources. Desperately needed are good quality beds, tables, chairs, upholstered furniture and dressers.
In household items Bridging never gets enough dishes, towels, kitchen utensils, knives, pots and pans, silverware, linens, etc.
Bridging distributes donated products free to families in need referred to the organization by one of more than 200 social service agencies in Minnesota. This year Bridging will help more than 6,000 families make a house a home. In 2008, Bridging served over 17,000 individuals.
Donations are tax deductible for individuals or organizations. Tax receipts will be provided on site during the drive. Prospective donors are encouraged to read the list of acceptable item donations prior to arriving on site.
Bridging also has a fee-based residential pick-up program.
