During March, Edina Realty’s Woodbury office served as a drop site for Minnesota’s March FoodShare Campaign, the largest food drive in the state, helping Edina Realty offices across the state collect 5,408 pounds and $22,952 in donations — a 104 percent increase over last year’s campaign total.
All the monetary donations and items collected at the Woodbury office were donated to the Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf.
The items included canned and packaged foods; baby items including diapers, formula and cereal; and various household basics such as toilet paper, shampoo, laundry and dish soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes.
“We are pleased that we can contribute to such a worthy cause,” said Deb Harren, Edina Realty’s Woodbury office manager. “We are grateful to everyone who made a donation at our office including our clients, agents and employees.”
According to Minnesota FoodShare, in 2008, there were more than 2 million food shelf visits statewide and food shelf usage continues to climb. During last year alone, 50 million pounds of food were distributed to Minnesota families, and with today’s challenging economy, donations will be even more important in 2009.
Edina Realty, a subsidiary of HomeServices of America, is one of the nation’s largest real estate companies with more than 65 real estate offices throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and Western Wisconsin and more than 2,500 Realtors.
