Collectors’ corner at the library

An information session will be held April 18 at the R.H. Stafford library for potential volunteers to the Science Museum of Minnesota and R.H. Stafford library Collectors’ Corner satellite partnership at the library.

An information session will be held Saturday, April 18, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the R.H. Stafford library for potential volunteers to the Science Museum of Minnesota and R.H. Stafford library Collectors’ Corner satellite partnership at the library, 8595 Central Park Place, Woodbury.

In the Collectors’ Corner, children of all ages can bring in a natural object (or a journal entry, photograph, rubbings or drawings of the object) and share their knowledge about the item with Collectors’ Corner volunteers. The more a trader knows about the object, the more points they will earn. With the points earned, the trader will be able to trade what they discussed for another item at the trading post.

Volunteers will interact with children and families to introduce and facilitate the trading process and enter information into the Collectors’ Corner database.

Volunteers who complete the orientation and training will receive all benefits as Science Museum of Minnesota volunteers. A volunteer orientation to the program will be held Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to noon at the library.
