The city of Woodbury is accepting nominations through April 1 for the second annual "Environmental Excellence" awards.
The awards were developed in 2008 by the Woodbury Sustainability Committee to recognize businesses, non-profits, schools and residents that are making Woodbury a more sustainable community through innovative programs and practices that demonstrate environmental leadership.
Applicants may nominate themselves or be nominated by another individual. The program features 10 award categories: green building, green remodeling, waste reduction and recycling, water conservation, energy efficiency and conservation, use of renewable or alternative energy, sustainable business practices, environmental education and awareness, innovative storm water management practices and youth leadership.
Nominated businesses, organizations or individuals must operate or reside within the city of Woodbury. Similarly, nominated projects must be located within the city.
Completed nominations are due at City Hall by noon, Wednesday, April 1. To access the nomination form, or for more information about the program, visit the city’s sustainability Web page at www.woodburysustainability.com and click on “Environmental Excellence Awards – 2009.” Applications also can be picked up at the Administration Department at City Hall, 8301 Valley Creek Road.
