City accepting nominations for environmental excellence ‘green’ awards

The city of Woodbury is looking to recognize some green businesses.

Last year the Woodbury Sustainability Committee debuted it “Environmental Excellence Awards” program that recognized business, organizations and individuals that make Woodbury a more sustainable community “through innovative programs and programs that demonstrate environmental leadership.”

The awards are officially presented at the city’s annual town business meeting.

The Woodbury Sustainability Committee is a volunteer citizens group formed the by the city council.

This year new categories were added including youth leadership and environmental education and awareness.

Those interested in nominating a business, organization or individual for an “environmental excellence” award can find out more about the process by going to www.woodburysustainability.com.

The deadline for nominations is April 1.
