VFW offers scholarship for Woodbury students
Woodbury VFW Post 9024 is offering a one-year, $1,000 scholarship to a student living in Woodbury or attending a Woodbury high school.
Woodbury VFW Post 9024 is offering a one-year, $1,000 scholarship to a student living in Woodbury or attending a Woodbury high school.
High school seniors planning on pursuing a post-secondary education at either a two- or four-year vocational or educational institute starting in the fall of 2009 whose grade standing is in the upper 40 percent of their class at the end of the first semester of their senior year are eligible to apply.
Selection will be based on ability, character, leadership, personality and participation in extracurricular activities. Previous winners include Renee Elsasser (2006), Benjamin Dellaria (2007), and Sarah Petrich and Amanda Skinner (2008).
Applications are available from school counselors or by contacting Bob Fritsche at (651) 439-1791.
Completed applications must be submitted through the counseling or guidance office of the school no later than Friday, April 9.
Funds for the scholarship are made possible through the community’s contribution to the Post’s “Cans for College” aluminum can recycling project with additional funding directly from Post 9024.
Cans may be donated at the collection trailer located in the parking lot of Valley Creek Mall, 1750 Weir Drive, Woodbury.
