Deployed military personnel and their spouses are receiving free tax preparation by certified public accountants (CPAs).
This service is offered in cooperation with the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants (MNCPA) and the Minnesota National Guard Family Programs.
Deployed military personnel in all branches who are residents of Minnesota qualify for free state and federal individual income tax return preparation for 2008 tax returns.
Service members, spouses or family members can call the Minnesota National Guard Family Programs at (651) 268-8200 or (888) 234-1274 to use the service.
"The MNCPA and its member volunteers are proud to work with the Minnesota Family Programs for the fifth year to provide free tax preparation," said Liz Beckmann of the MNCPA. "We are dedicated to promoting financial literacy in Minnesota."
The MNCPA is part of the national 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy campaign to help Americans improve their financial literacy. Resources and information are available online at www.mncpa.org/360, including specific information for military and reserve personnel.
