South Washington County School District 833 Community Education will host “THE Art Experience” for youth in grades 7-9 on Friday, March 6, a school day off.
Junior high school students are invited for a day full of creating and looking at art. Events include a tour of the Walker Art Center collection focusing on careers in art and a chance to create your own artwork in the Art Lab to take home; a visit to the Northrop King Building of over 180 artist studios; and tours of artist studios where participants will able to see how the artists create their artwork and two of the studio artists will lead participants in creating more artwork to take home.
Buses will pick up students at Woodbury Junior High School at 8:45 a.m., Lake Junior High School at 9 a.m., Cottage Grove Junior High School at 9:15 a.m. and Oltman Junior High School at 9:30 a.m. The return drop off will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Oltman followed by Cottage Grove at 4:45 p.m., Lake at 5 p.m. and Woodbury at 5:15 p.m. Participants should bring a bag lunch. Funding through a grant from Target has provided a portion of the cost for the trip. The cost for students is only $4 apiece.
