The Woodbury boys and girls Nordic ski teams checked off one of its final three big races of the year last week with the Suburban East Conference championships.
At the SEC championships at Como Park in St. Paul, the Woodbury boys finished in third place with 410 points, just eight points behind second place Stillwater, and the girls earned fourth place with 393 points.
At the race, finishers in the top-20 earned All-Conference honors. In all, Woodbury had six skiers earn All-Conference — four boys and two girls.
For the Woodbury boys, senior Will Novotny and James Buchen and juniors Brock Eastlund and Marty Joyce all earned All-Conference. On the girls side, junior Natalie Lugg and senior Mari Wallis each earned All-Conference honors.
In the girls race, Woodbury’s top finish came from junior skier Natalie Lugg, who earned eighth place overall with a 35:10 time. Wallis continued her comeback from injury to earn the second best finish on the day for the Royals with a time of 35:28, which was good for 10th place overall.
Next up for Woodbury is the Section 4 meet on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Battle Creek Park in Stillwater.
