The Washington County Board of Commissioners took care of some of their “first-meeting-of-the-year” business Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Commissioners Dennis Hegberg (District 1, Forest Lake, Hugo) and Gary Kriesel (District 3, Stillwater, Afton) who were re-elected to four-year terms in November, were sworn into their new four-year terms.
Commissioner Myra Peterson (District 4, Cottage Grove) was then elected board chair for 2009. She last served as board chair in 2005. Commissioner Bill Pulkrabek (District 2, Lake Elmo) was elected vice chair. Peterson replaces Hegberg, who has held the chair position on the board five times in his 20 years of elected service.
The board then approved a list of county, state, metropolitan and national committee assignments for each commissioner.
The board’s newest commissioner, Lisa Weik (District 5, Woodbury) was selected to serve on a few key committees, including the public health emergency preparedness advisory committee and the I-94 Corridor committee.
