Letter: Bunn - Doing a phenomenal job
State Representative Julie Bunn is doing a phenomenal job for our district.
State Representative Julie Bunn is doing a phenomenal job for our district. We have been particularly impressed by Julie’s willingness to listen and go to bat for her constituents, even in the face of significant opposition.
Julie listened to the citizens of West Lakeland Township, our Township Supervisors, and those in the communities south of us regarding our concerns about the proposed siting of a fly ash landfill in the excavated gravel pit on the southern border of our West Lakeland community, an area considered geologically highly sensitive to contamination of groundwater.
She studied the issue, attended the public meetings, considered our concerns in the context of larger state landfill siting issues, and chief authored legislation to protect us and others around the state.
With her successfully passed legislation, the pollution control agency is now required to develop new rules for the siting of solid waste landfills such that they cannot be permitted in areas sensitive to groundwater contamination.
With the passage of this legislation, and her chairing of the East Metro PFC Pollution oversight working group, Julie has demonstrated that she knows how to balance economic and business interests with the need to protect our drinking water and the public health.
We urge you to support Julie Bunn on Nov. 4.
