Letter: Bohlsen, Lohmer will protect us

Few people understand the real impact of illegal aliens in Minnesota.

Few people understand the real impact of illegal aliens in Minnesota. Unfortunately, the latest figures assembled by the State of Minnesota are from 2005. However the numbers have significantly increased due to the St. Paul and Minneapolis “sanctuary city” policy.

Illegal aliens cost Minnesota taxpayers as much as $345 million per year. We cover their health care costs, educate them, often provide welfare benefits and are rewarded with increased crime, violence and fewer jobs for citizens.

Nationally, 30 percent of prison inmates are non-citizens (estimated 17 percent are here illegally, a very high percentage when three percent of our population is illegal) and cost the U.S. taxpayers $13 billion per year.

From 1996 through 2007, according to www.immigrationcounters.com, illegal aliens cost the U.S., in excess of $400 billion.

From January of 2006 through November 19, 2007 illegal aliens wired $42.5 billion to Mexico alone. Illegal aliens have taken over 10 million skilled jobs from Americans and 663,000 of them are fugitives for crimes beyond their border offense.

While the DFL majority in our State House and Senate are protecting and funding sanctuary cities, expanding welfare, collegiate level education programs and expanding opportunities for voter fraud, the taxpayers are paying the tab, losing jobs and opportunities.

I know you get the picture as most Minnesotans want the borders sealed and anchor-babies determined illegal as well.

This is a large and growing area of concern for our state and nation. How many bad loans were written to residents who are not citizens, yet you bailed them out as well?

Each household in the U.S. has a $455,000 liability for government entitlements, how many benefitting don’t belong here. How can we continue to fund this liberal spending fiasco.

We need responsible state legislators whose political party does not and will not support programs and policies that promote violating federal law.

Kathy Lohmer and Lee Bohlsen favor protecting the citizens and their opportunities to attain the American dream.

Vote for Kathy Lohmer and Lee Bohlsen if you value protecting our country and economy.
