Letter: We can count on Marsha Swails
I have really appreciated the openness and honest way Marsha Swails has governed as our state representative.
I have really appreciated the openness and honest way Marsha Swails has governed as our state representative.
During the earlier part of the legislative session, I called Marsha because I was worried about our schools, because of the budget deficit. Marsha got right back to me. She didn’t promise everything under the sun, but told me she would be doing everything she could to make education a top priority in the final budget agreement.
At the end of the day, Marsha exceeded my expectations. She helped get bipartisan agreement between the governor and both Democrats and Republicans on a balanced budget that didn’t raise taxes. In addition, the Legislature passed a balanced $51 per pupil funding increase for every school district in the state.
She also restored past cuts to early childhood programs and increased funding for all-day kindergarten to give parents more choices in the critically important early learning years of their children.
With Marsha, it’s not just her stance on the issues that have made her a strong advocate for us in the Legislature. She has approached the job as a problem-solver and she is so approachable if any of us have questions or a concern.
Marsha has proven we can count on her. Let’s vote to re-elect her as our state representative this Nov. 4.
