Letter: Reasons to vote for Kathy Lohmer

As with every election season we're inundated with messages from candidates across the political spectrum attempting to explain to us why we should cast our ballot for them on Election Day.

Most often, these messages are superficial or vindictive and never really show who the candidate really is.

So why should you cast your vote to elect my mother, Kathy Lohmer, to be your representative in the Minnesota Legislature?

Is it because she is and always has been an upstanding member of the community and donated countless of hours of selfless service to helping those less fortunate than herself? Is it because she has survived breast cancer and dealt with the struggles of raising a disabled child and now seeks to reach out to those that are going through the same difficulties.

Maybe it is because she has a servant’s heart and is willing to put the needs of others in front of her own, or perhaps it is even because she raised my brothers and me to be hardworking and live with integrity, high moral character, and conservative values.

Could it be that she took the time to send packages not only to me, but also to the other soldiers in my unit during our recent deployment to Iraq?

Although all of these are good reasons to elect my mom and speak volumes to the quality of her character and the integrity with which she would hold her position, they are not the real reasons you should cast your vote for her.

The real reasons are because she cares so deeply about the direction of our great country and state that she would serve passionately and with tireless dedication to uphold conservative values and do whatever she can to ensure that those principals are what guide the policies coming out of the capital.

As a member of the armed services and having been surrounded by countless great Americans, I have never met anyone so passionate about ensuring that our country remains the symbol of freedom and beacon of prosperity for the rest of the world.

Do not vote for her because she is a good person and is an upstanding member of the community, vote for her because she will unwaveringly support conservative values and represent the people of this district with tireless dedication, strong conviction and impeccable integrity.
