Letter: Hurst deserves your vote

Cheryl Hurst deserves your vote for Washington County District 5 Commissioner.

First, because she has proven she has the necessary knowledge, experience, and leadership skills we all witnessed during her 12 years on the Woodbury City Council.

As a member of the Parks Commission, I worked with her on several issues and she was always well informed and a respected and constructive participant.

Second, at a time when our nation seems to becoming more divisive and gridlocked through party politics, it is refreshing that Cheryl Hurst deliberately chose not to seek any party endorsement or the support that follows.

The county commissioner position is a nonpartisian position and should stay that way. Local government should never have to adhere to a party doctrine as it is not in the best interests of the citizens of Washington County.

Cheryl Hurst is open minded, an advocate for teamwork, and believes in collaboration between citizens and government officials.

I strongly urge you to vote for Cheryl Hurst — the nonpartisan candidate — for Washington County District 5 Commissioner.
