‘Lulu Gals’ coming to River Falls barn dance

The Twin Cities all-women string band and clogging group “Lulu Gals” will open the 2008-09 season of “Second Saturday” barn dances in River Falls, Wis.

The Twin Cities all-women string band and clogging group “Lulu Gals” will open the 2008-09 season of “Second Saturday” barn dances in River Falls, Wis.

The first event takes place Saturday, Oct. 11 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Academy Gym in the old Meyer Middle School at Fremont and West Maple streets.

The barn dances feature a variety of old-time styles, from reels and round dances to full-fledged square dances.

No prior experience is necessary, because each dance includes instruction. Partners are optional. All ages are welcome.

The barn dance is a joint project of River Falls Community Arts Base, River Falls Parks and Recreation, and Whole Earth Grocery.

Admission is $5 for adults and $2.50 for 12 and under.
