District 833 Community Education offers a variety of swim programs for people of all ages. All are open to the public. “Lifeguard Training” will be held Nov. 9, 16, 23 and Dec. 7, 14, 21 from 3 to 8 p.m. at district locations in Cottage Grove. Enrollees must be age 15 by the completion of the course; will pretest with a 300-yard swim and 10lb. brick retrieval; and must attend all classes. Participants will learn and demonstrate lifesaving, CPR, AED and first aid skills. The cost is $206.
Girls age nine or older who have at least a level four swimming ability are eligible to participate in “Synchronized Swimming” on Mondays, Oct. 6 through Nov. 24 from 7:50 to 8:25 p.m. at Lake Junior High School, 3133 Pioneer Drive, Woodbury. The cost is $48. Students will learn basic skills including formations and choreography to perform the last day of class.
“Friday Family Swim” is offered at Lake Junior High School, 3133 Pioneer Drive, Woodbury. Families are invited to enjoy the pool most Fridays, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 3 through Dec. 19. The pool will be closed Oct. 17, 31, Nov. 28, and Dec. 26. The cost is $2 for students, $3 for adults, or $7 for families of four plus $1 for each additional person.
Yearly swim memberships are also available through Community Education.
