Letter: Traffic signals - A change is needed

I wish to comment on a (letter to the editor) written a couple of weeks ago regarding the traffic signals in Woodbury.

I wish to comment on a (letter to the editor) written a couple of weeks ago regarding the traffic signals in Woodbury.

As many of you know, the drive through our fine city is one of the most frustrating experiences one can ever have. I totally agree that the “left turn yield on green” signs need to be implemented for most of the intersections in Woodbury. I cannot tell you the number of wasted hours waiting for the red arrow to change, when most if not all the cars at the intersection could have turned safely with a yield sign.

To even make it more ridiculous, when the arrow finally does change, it is usually when there is a stream of traffic coming from the red lights they all had been at earlier.

I drive through St. Paul every day and their busiest intersections have these signs, and traffic flows just fine. After all, we do have eyes and can judge when it’s safe to cross and when not to.

The green arrow will let most of the traffic turn safely, and then the remaining can turn when its safe to do so.

Like was said in the previous (letter), when gas is near $4 a gallon, we can’t afford to be sitting endlessly waiting for a light to change, when we could have done so much earlier with a yield sign.

I think more people need to express their frustration and, just maybe, something will change.
