School start time review committee seeks members

School District 833 is reviewing the potential for changing school start/end times beginning with the 2009-10 school year. A review team is being formed that will consist of parent representatives and district staff.
Community members interested in membership on the School Start Time Review Team may apply by completing an application available on the district’s website at www.sowashco.k12.mn.us, then click on the School Start Times link under “hot topics.”
Two elementary, two middle and two high school parent representatives will be selected from the submitted applications.
The charge of the School Start/End Time Review Team is to provide advisory recommendations to the school board on the K-12 school start/end times to best meet the educational needs of the district’s current and future school-aged population.
The review team will be assigned the responsibility of studying the research gathered, having conversations about what is best for the entire district and formulating a recommendation for the school board. This will involve several night meetings in September through December.
Applications must be submitted by Friday, Sept. 19. Team members will be named the week of Sept. 22
