The filing period opened Tuesday for the November 4 Woodbury municipal election, and this year the race for the two Woodbury City Council seats will include the two incumbents.

Woodbury City Council members Paul Rebholz and Amy Scoggins filed to run for re-election Tuesday. Filing period for most elections began in June and ended in July, but for Woodbury, and other municipal elections across the state that do not have a primary, the filing period begins Aug. 26 and ends Sept. 9.

Rebholz and Scoggins are first-time incumbents as they were both elected to their first terms on the council in November 2004, a race that featured eight candidates.

All of the seats on the Woodbury City Council are at-large positions, which means the top two vote-getters will earn spots on the five-seat council.

Seats currently held by Mayor Bill Hargis and council members Mary Giuliani-Stephens and Julie Ohs are up for re-election in 2010.

In 2006 incumbents Mike Madigan and Cheryl Hurst chose not to seek re-election to the city council.
