An increased volume in patients and demand for care has Woodwinds Health Center planning for an expansion. The first step in the process? More parking.
The Woodbury Planning Commission voted Aug. 18 to recommend approval of the first of three phases of a campus expansion at Woodwinds Health Center, which will be a surface parking lot that will add 126 much needed spaces for employees, said Woodwinds operations manager Tom Schmitt.
“Our employees will use these spaces, which should free up current spaces that are closer to the hospital for visitors and guests,” Schmitt said.
The planning commission voted 7-0 to recommend approval for a site plan for the parking lot, Schmitt said, which is expected to be constructed as early as this fall.
The commission also looked at some concept plans for the two additional phases of the project, which are planned to be built within the next five years, Schmitt said.
The second phase includes construction of a three-story medical office building, planned to be situated which to the north of the existing campus, near Valley Creek Mall. The third phase includes construction of two additional medical office buildings, each planned to be two stories in height.
The Woodbury City Council will review site plan for the new parking lot at its Wednesday, Aug. 27 meeting.
