Residents want loop road repaired

Residents from Afton Hills have requested their loop road be placed at the top of the city’s priorities for repairs.

Diane Dettmann, of Afton Hills Court, made the request during the public comment section of the city’s Aug. 19 meeting, saying, “The top part of our road is in horrible condition.”

Council member Joe Richter agreed Afton Hills was top of the list of any future road projects for the city, but pointed out the problem was how to fund it.

“It’s a total reconstruction, and it costs about $500,000,” added mayor Julia Welter.

“We don’t have that kind of money in our city. It’s either going to be a bond or it’s going to be saving up for many years.”
