Afton council filing period to start

Filing opens next week for the positions of Mayor and council members for wards 1 and 4 in Afton.

Candidates for the ward positions must live in the ward in which they are standing for election (and have lived there for at least 30 days prior to the election) and be at least 21 years old.

Bob Dickie, an Afton resident of 24 years, announced his intention to run for Mayor on Monday, Aug. 18. Attorney Dickie pledged to work with other candidates to campaign fairly in the run-up to the election.

Filing opens on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 9 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
