Letter: Columnist should learn the laws
I would like to advise columnist Qin Tang to stop at the DMV and pick up a copy of the Minnesota state traffic regulations — or, better yet, invest in a behind-the-wheel driving course.

In her recent column about getting stopped by a police officer, she revealed her lack of driving skills, as well as her knowledge of the laws and the purpose for them.
What bothers me is that she seems more concerned about her "still-clean" driving record than the fact that running a red light endangered her, her son and the other drivers on the road.
She wrote, “Just because I run a red light and didn't get caught or ticketed doesn't mean I can do it again and will never get caught.”
Getting caught is not the issue. She ran a red light!
Traffic laws exist to keep people from being injured or killed on the road. She cannot expect to learn the laws from lenient police officers who pull her over after she's broken them. Nor is it her 10-year-old son's job to teach her.
She can set a better example for him by learning the laws and abiding by them. Until she does that, none of us will be safe on the roads.
