Michele Bachmann, U.S. Representative from Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District, recently honored Woodbury resident Mary Giuliani Stephens for her commitment to women's leadership in a recent trip to Washington, D.C., as part of the Minnesota Excellence in Public Service Series.
The series equips female leaders to serve in politics and government, and to educate and inspire other women to get involved.
During the visit, Stephens also met with Sen. Norm Coleman, Third District Rep. Jim Ramstad and Second District Rep. John Kline.
During the trip, participants heard from several female leaders including Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao and Republican National Co-Chairman Jo Ann Davidson.
Nine other women from Minnesota were honored by Bachmann during the visit.
The Minnesota Excellence in Public Service Series is a non-profit organization funded and operated by the voluntary contributions of individuals and organizations committed to increasing the leadership of women in political activities, elected offices and key appointive positions at all levels of government.
