School District 833 is increasing its ties to the business community with an expanded role with 3M.
The company is donating $10,000 for a Science Partnership Coordinator who will increase access to 3M resources, promote professional development and develop a science resource clearing house.
Jim Stufko, recent 3M retiree, will fill the role and be available on site at Woodbury and Park high schools, according to a presentation at the May 22 school board meeting.
Company staff recognized for the efforts on behalf of district students include Barbara Kaufmann, education manager; Vickie Batroot, site director at Cottage Grove Center; and Mary Buckett, William Tolbert and Martin Wolk, parents and 3M scientists.
During the school year, 3M, including funding for the Science Partnership, has donated $381,817 in goods and services to the district including projectors, computers and technology programs.
