U.S. trade policy with China is topic of discussion group

The city of Woodbury parks and recreation department’s Great Decisions discussion group will meet Wednesday, May 28 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Valley Creek Room A at Central Park, 8595 Central Park Place in Woodbury to discuss U.S. - China Trade Policy. Talking points include: Recent product safety scares have thrown the spotlight on the enormous role China plays in supplying products to the U.S. Could the large and growing trade imbalance with China have an adverse effect on the U.S. economy? What role does the undervalued Chinese currency play?
Great Decisions is designed to encourage debate and discussion of important global issues. Developed by the Foreign Policy Association, it is the centerpiece of the longest-running United States civic education program devoted to foreign affairs and has become the largest nonpartisan public education program on international affairs in the world.
Briefing Books providing historical background, current U.S. policy and alternative policy options, informative maps and detailed graphs, suggested readings and resources, as well as opinion ballots for the topic are available for purchase or can be checked out at the R.H. Stafford Branch Library.
