Afton wants to know if it can ‘opt out’ of Met Council

Afton’s attorney will be writing to the state attorney general to establish whether a city charter would allow Afton to opt out of the Metropolitan Council.
The request was made by council member Peg Nolz at the April 15 meeting, in light of the current efforts by the Afton Charter Commission to draw up a charter for the city.
Nolz said, “The charter commission seems to think that by the charter they can opt out of the Met Council.”
