The Washington County Board of Commissioners approved a contract with East Suburban Resources (ESR) to extend job skills training, job development and placement, and supported employment services for people enrolled in the Diversionary Work Program and the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP).

The goal is to get people into the work force as quickly as possible and to lessen the number of people who would otherwise go into MFIP. Washington County’s 2007 diversion rate to not have customers go on MFIP was 76.4 percent — the state goal is 50 percent.
