A letter writer in the Wednesday, March 12 Bulletin reports that it took a bridge collapse to get a transportation bill.
What she fails to report is that decades of control of the Minnesota Legislature by Democrats/liberals failed to make appropriate and sufficient appropriations of funds to roads and highways; preferring instead to engorge social and so-called medical needs programs rather than do what was right and needed by our basic infrastructure.
Now, it is an emergency. And it means a huge, not little, tax increase. Good spin.
And oh, let us not forget the European connection. All hail the European liberals and their high gas prices. It seems to me we didn’t like Europeans and their taxes. There was a Boston tea party.
We broke away, paying a bloody price in the 18th century, remember?
I will — in advance — apologize and stand corrected if wrong, but the letter writer has a strongly Tory-sounding name and her loyalties appear to remain with the old Europe and its taxers.
