Democrats from around Senate District 56 — Central Washington County, Woodbury to Stillwater, Lake Elmo to the St. Croix River — will gather on Tuesday, Feb. 5 for the DFL Party’s biennial precinct caucuses.
The Senate District 56 DFL caucuses will be held at Oak-Land Junior High School, Manning Ave and 10th Street North. Enter the school parking lot from Manning Avenue.
At the caucuses, DFLers will cast a presidential-preference ballot that will determine how Minnesota’s delegates to the Democratic National Convention next August are allocated among the presidential candidates.
They will also debate resolutions that any caucus attendee may introduce for possible inclusion into the Minnesota DFL Party’s platform, choose officers for the next two years, and select delegates for the upcoming Senate District convention on March 8 at Stillwater Area High School.
The caucuses will begin at 7 p.m. Presidential-preference balloting will conclude with ballot collection at 8 p.m. sharp. Ballots may only be cast in person. No absentee balloting is allowed.
Anyone who will be eligible to vote in Minnesota by Nov. 4 may vote in the presidential-preference ballot. Anyone age 16 or over may participate in caucus business.
